Buckland Park is located approximately 29km north of the Adelaide’s city centre, on Port Wakefield Road. It’s a large site of approximately 1,340 hectares, and is 6 kilometres across. Buckland Park will be built over 25 years, and is expected to be complete by 2036.
Buckland Park will be developed as a masterplanned community and will house:
- Residential areas for up to 12,000 new houses.
- Neighbourhood centres for shops, community facilities, primary schools and high schools.
- A district centre on Port Wakefield Road, for shops, offices and government services that may be needed, like police, ambulance and fire brigade. Construction of the District Centre is expected to commence approximately 12 years after project commencement.
- Industrial areas for business and industry.
- Open Space for landscaping, bikeways, walking trails, ovals and protecting native plants and animals. Some of the open space will also be used for storm and flood water channels and basins, and wetlands.
The Stage 1 land division includes the following:
- 609 house allotments of various sizes including a 15% affordable housing component
- Two parks and linear recreation and stormwater
management areas
- A primary school site
- A neighbourhood centre site, including:
- A supermarket and 10 speciality shops with the potential to be constructed over 2 stages
- A community centre
- Children's playground
- Town centre and landscaped entry
- Sales & Information Centre
- Car parking
